Oh Not Dead Raccoon!!

At the request of the Pastor, it's time we post the lyrics to "Not Dead Raccoon." First, let me set the scene.

A few weeks ago, we found a raccoon, who seemed to be sick, in the youth house backyard here at Emerald Baptist Church. We thought he was dying, and for some reason, we began to write a song about him. As things progressed, the song told the story. And with that, here is the true story of Rocky the Not Dead Raccoon.

Verse 1
There's a raccoon in our backyard
Lying over on his head
Pushing and pulling real hard
Trying to stand up but I think he'll soon be dead

Verse 2
There's a raccoon dying in our yard
And I'm starting to feel kinda bad
And I'm trying not to laugh too hard
'Cause I think it should make me feel sad

Chorus
O-oh dead raccoon
But wait he's not dead yet
Oh dying raccoon
How much longer? Place your bets

Bridge
Then I looked into his eyes
As he lifted up his head
And it made me realize
Maybe he was better off dead

But suddenly what's this I see?
He's up and looking all around
Came back to life miraculously
And now he's walking across the ground

Chorus
Oh not dead raccoon
I guess I lost that bet
Not dying raccoon
Maybe I'll make him my pet

Verse 3
There's a raccoon leaving our yard
Watch him, there he goes
And this goodbye sure is hard
When we'll meet again, God only knows

Chorus
Oh not dead raccoon
I sure did lose that bet
Not dying raccoon
Maybe we'll meet again yet

Maybe we'll meet again yet
Maybe we'll meet again yet
Maybe we'll meet again yet
Maybe we'll meet again
Maybe we'll meet again
Maybe we'll meet again ye-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-et
Someday

Ahhhhh...I am moved by the passion that this song affords. I wonder if the Emerald Choir might be able to pull off a rendition of "Not Dead Raccoon." Now that would rock and I would be looking for another job!

Oh goodness. That was beautiful, Tuck. I think that you should make a recording of that song. I could use a copy! It could be a big hit...top 100, at least. I mean look at all the supid songs on the radio now! You could totally make it! Let me know what ya think! Talk to you later! ~Megan
